About Me

If you’ve actually taken the time to explore my “About Me” page and you find yourself reading this, I commend you. Welcome to me.

I find it kind of weird to talk about myself, but I’ll do it anyway.

My name is Bre Callahan, and I’ve spent the last few years trying to find myself. I mean, not literally; I’m right here, of course, but I think we all encounter a point in our lives when we can’t seem to figure out whom we truly are. It’s been a wild past few years, but I think I’m starting to finally put the pieces together: I’m a communications guru. I’ve dabbled in a little bit of everything in this sector — writing for a variety of disciplines, as well as editing, photography, social media, graphic design and a bit of video — sharpening my tool belt along the way and proving I can be efficient regardless of the task assigned.

You’ll find this website is more than just a portfolio; it holds mostly every piece of content I’ve ever written since I entered college. A lot of these are passion projects — reviews of albums and songs I loved or hated, photography I shot in my free time — but it also showcases news and feature stories I completed in my professional endeavors, the pieces of content for which I want to be known. I’ve done this so people can see my authentic self: my life outside my career alongside and the high-caliber I can produce when I’m on the clock.

I graduated in 2022 from Ohio University’s prominent E.W. Scripps School of Journalism and, during my time there, I served as managing editor of the campus newspaper, The Post, after being its copy chief for the prior two years. I’ve done far more than just journalistic work, though. I’ve freelanced for evergreen entertainment, a music PR agency focused on uplifting voices that deserve to be heard. I’ve interned for music website Play Too Much, for Musée Magazine as a copy editor, for CityScene Magazine as a reporter and for StartupNation as an editorial assistant. I started as an intern at the Richmond Times-Dispatch in June 2022 and was moved to a full-time copy editor three weeks later. I transitioned to editing and writing for Homes.com via CoStar Group, and now I’m a communications representative for BHE GT&S. Some say I’m busy, but it never feels like I am. I’m simply spending my days doing what I love.

If you read all the way through, I commend you once more. Thanks for reading; I hope you enjoy what’s to come.
