Welcome to the world of Bre the Bobcat. I’m sure you have a plethora of questions about who I am and why I refer to myself as “the Bobcat.” I’m here to explain.
My senior year of high school, I had my own segment on the school-wide broadcast dubbed “The Anti-joke of the Day.” I would introduce myself the same way every morning with a phrase I eventually became infamous for: “It’s me, Bre the Blueberry, with your ‘Anti-joke of the Day.”
Yes, you read that correctly: a blueberry.
The story of the blueberry coming to me is a completely different story, but let me get to the point.
I dreamed that year of getting accepting into Ohio University’s E.W. Scripps School of Journalism. When I received word that I had gotten in, my best friend immediately said I should change my nickname to “Bre the Bobcat,” as Ohio University’s mascot is Rufus the Bobcat.
And so I did.
I believe school pride is crucial to a person’s experience at any given educational institution. Emulate it, and your experiences will be worthwhile.
So here I am, expressing the fact that I am a Bobcat now and will continue to be, even after I obtain my diploma and see what happens to be beyond college.
I hope to mirror this school spirit through my journalistic work I share with you all. I’m particularly interested in the fascinating worlds of music journalism, sports commentary and copy editing, but I’m almost positive this website will showcase love for more than that.
